Chapter 1
I cursed under my breath as my newly purchased wooden easel clattered to the ground. One of the words I used drew a raised eyebrow from a straight-backed woman, who turned up her nose at my battered Land Rover as she passed me on her way down the steep drive from the bed-and-breakfast to the town below.
I watched the tight silver bun of her hair bob its way along the path beside before turning back to the disaster unfolding in the back of my Land Rover. Hopefully she wasn’t a resident of the Talbot-on-bluff bed-and-breakfast. I wasn’t sure I wanted to see that sneer again. It reminded me too much of Justice Pugh, another face and name I’d prefer to forget.

About the author
This is a picture of Ollie the beagle, the best character in the series.
If you’ve read this far you’ll already have noticed that Maggie is really Andrew (Hi!). Yes, Maggie is the pen name of Andrew Savage. Even with his mother’s knowledge of quilting and sewing, Maggie just sounds so much better for a mystery writer than “Andrew”, so here we are.
You can find out about Andrew’s other writing at www.thinknzombie.com.
